exponent of Christianity" FROM A DOCTOR'S LETTER
To
have founded a church and a faith which has thousands of
adherents all over the civilized world is in itself a title
to immortal fame. In the past women have commanded armies
and ruled empires. History is full of tales of great women
whose influence has been a power in the affairs of men, and
by far the greatest number attained their power by charm of
person, but Mrs. Eddy rose to her high place through the
power of thought. However people may differ about the
doctrines she taught; however diverse human opinions may be
as to her claims and writings, all must admit that she was a
transcendent character. The world has been made better for
her having lived." Letter, in part, received from a doctor in Oklahoma quoted in "Selected Articles" Christian Science Sentinel, March 25, 1922 |
