Sometimes the problems of others are recognized as unreal, while one's own problem appears to be real. This accounts for such experiences as that referred to above. When declaring the truth for one's self many useless arguments may be employed because they mostly refer to a supposed physical creation and a physical condition, or are an attempt to spiritualize matter. When the truth is declared for others it seems easier to see the error as an unreality of material belief. What is needed to effect the healing is a realization of what is written on page 10 of "Rudimental Divine Science" by Mrs. Eddy: "His law of Truth, when obeyed, removes every erroneous physical and mental state. The belief that matter can master Mind, and make you ill, is an error which Truth will destroy." In the proportion that Truth is understood perfection appears, revealing man in God's likeness, the image of Love. It is futile to attempt to see this through the physical senses, as infinity can be only spiritually discerned. Man's rich endowment is dominion, harmony, and immortality.
It gives the writer much joy to recall how the truth was demonstrated which resulted in his healing. One day when treatment was taken up it was seen that error was no thing; that it could have no presence and no place; that the presence of error would suggest the absence of Truth, for a belief that the unreal has power is a denial that God is All-power, whereas the understanding and affirmation of God's omnipotence and omnipresence proves evil to be a negation. It became very clear that a negation is no thing, and that as nothing could not be perceived, it could therefore have no power and no place. This so spiritualized thought that it brought a fuller understanding of omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence, and the belief of discord instantly vanished.
It is therefore necessary to understand what Mrs. Eddy states on page 242 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," if the metaphysician would heal himself and others: "In practising Christian Science you must state its Principle correctly, or you forfeit your ability to demonstrate it." For those who have had similar experiences it is vital to see that God is Love and that creation is the appearing to us of God's ideas. Just as the object in the mirror is a reflection, so creation re-presents all the attributes of Love, and by having that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" the old man is put off and immortality, or the consciousness of man's oneness with God, good, is brought to light. In the words of Paul, "Ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."
