The Secret
EDITH F. MUNROE

         This is the secret of the joyful heart:
             To know, beyond the shadow of a doubt,
         True happiness and peace are quite apart
             From mortal seeming; Love is round about.

         Though mists of mortal sense may seem to hide
             The light of Truth, yet Love will break the spell,
         Reveal the glorious fact that none beside
             Our Father reigns; within His house we dwell.

         Here find we Life eternal; here no lie
             Can entrance gain, where God alone has power.
         Freed from the dream, we find that Love is nigh;
             Rejoice in His sweet presence hour by hour.
