"THE HEALING EFFECTS OF TRUTH"
I also remember how loss of voice was beautifully healed. Not knowing at that time what a treatment exactly was, I decided to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. As I was pondering over a few sentences, it was suddenly shown to me how angry and irritable I had been lately. I then began to realize that God's child reflects patience and love. At the very minute I decided to be more patient and more loving, my voice came back as clear as ever. I have sometimes felt ill, but it never has lasted long when I applied the truth. I do feel grateful for these physical healings, which are visible proof of God's love; but I am still more grateful for the changes that have taken place in my disposition and for the way I now look upon life. Formerly the Bible was to me only a succession of wonderful stories. Now the Bible and the textbook of Christian Science are the books which help me in every difficulty. I always believed in God, but I believed also in the so-called power of evil. I seemed to take into consciousness good or bad thoughts, merry or sad ones. I am so very grateful to Mrs. Eddy, because one learns through her teachings that the Christian can accept and entertain only thoughts that breathe love for others and full trust in good. The study of Mrs. Eddy's writings has made me understand that Jesus could never have done the works which he did if he had entertained the thoughts which I unconsciously entertained. I also begin to realize what Jesus meant when he declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Suzanne
