INFECTION HEALED
Last spring our son had a splendid healing over an infected knee. The knee had been skinned while he was playing basketball, and little attention paid to it. About a week afterwards the young man complained of its being very sore. I tried to work for him in [Christian] Science, but as it was my first experience with anything of this nature since coming into Science, the old fear of infection, which had been so instilled in my mind during the hospital days, crept in, and my work seemed of no avail. The help of [a practitioner] was therefore asked, and very effectively given. In a few days the healing was complete. During this time our son attended school and lived a normal life. This demonstration was most remarkable to me, for I had seen cases where the material symptoms manifested were no worse than in his case and the patient was laid up for weeks. My husband and I have also been healed of many other ills, among them pleurisy, which was overcome very quickly. The physical healing, however, is of minor importance compared with the change which Christian Science has produced in my understanding of God and in my thought of what really constitutes life and happiness. I am also being helped in overcoming many faults of disposition, including a very sharp temper. A verse of a psalm reads, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy." I truly have been redeemed from many enemies of false belief; and for this and all the blessings which Christian Science has brought to my family and to me, I find it difficult to express my gratitude. My most sincere prayer is that I may learn to live my gratitude. . . Florence Taylor Maurer
