"GOD'S LOVING CARE"
It was late in the summer before I was able to get this book; and on September 15, 1915, I was called to a nearby hospital. On arriving there I found my son, nine years old, apparently in a dying condition. He had been struck by an automobile on his way to school. For a few moments there was great fear. The thought came to me, however, that now was the time to demonstrate Christian Science. I knelt beside the cot; the story of Abraham offering up Isaac came to me. I knew it was the "still small voice," and I began to work out the meaning of the message. It came to me that Abraham did not hesitate to obey God, even to the giving up of his most cherished possession; and in trusting God by obedience, his son was delivered to him again. At that moment I knew that what I wanted most was to know God's will. A great peace came with this thought, and I wanted to pray. The thought came that I did not know how to pray. In humility I asked God to teach me; and as if an audible voice had spoken came the words, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." I repeated this promise, and after the space of fifteen minutes the child called to me. The child had a crushed skull, his jaw was broken, his nose was crushed, the roof of his mouth was split. The doctors gave him but a few hours to live. Help was asked of a Christian Science practitioner, and treatment was started immediately. So beautifully was the work done that after treatment began the child never lost consciousness or felt a moment's pain. The doctors told me he would never see again. As each of these arguments was put forth, I had only to refer to Science and Health for my remedy. In four weeks he was healed, and never has had any ill effect from the experience. I am very grateful for this healing and for many other blessings that have come to us through the study of Christian Science. Each day brings a new proof of God's loving care. Catherine E.
