Christian
Science Testimony
"GOD
IS LIGHT . . ."
A friend had sent me Christian
Science literature, and in my reading of it I came across
this wonderful declaration of John: "God is light, and in
him is no darkness at all." This illuminating message had
for several days been frequently in mind, until one noon in
preparing lunch I took the corner of my apron to remove a
basin of boiling syrup from the gas stove. At that moment my
fourteen-year-old son called to me, and as I turned quickly,
the apron sticking fast to the basin brought down the
contents over my left hand. I glanced at the red hand and
exclaimed, "Oh, George, you must help mother to think the
right thoughts!" Instantly the thought came, "God is light,
and in him is no darkness at all." I do not know how many
seconds this thought filled my consciousness, but in an
incredibly short time, feeling no sense of burn, I uncovered
my hand and found it the same as the other. It was a
complete healing. A day or two after I said to George, "If
mother should tell that to people, they would not believe
it, would they?" "No, mother," he said, "but I saw it."
Today George with his
brother Carle is at the front in France, and my heart goes
out with an unexplainable happiness for Christian Science
this divine Principle of life, whose loving message
came to a suffering world through Christ Jesus, and since
has been given to us by dear Mrs. Eddy, until millions echo
the glorious message, "God is light, and in him is no
darkness at all."
